The last couple of weeks have been testing for most people. I haven't updated the blog but can confirm that I am having to postpone the 100 miler for the foreseeable. I am looking to complete it later in the year. It's not ideal and very disappointing. We all have "bigger fish to fry" and as Delboy once said "it's just a dropped stitch in life's tapestry!!" I cannot thank Team Cato, Gil and Cathy my local Prostate Cancer UK contacts and Andy at Prostate Cancer UK in London for all their help, support, guidance and inspiration!!! It is a difficult one but PC UK need to safe guard their volunteers and I cannot ask my team to put themselves at risk.

It has been strange not training in the gym on a morning but I used to train outdoors so I am managing. Although the hill sprints up 99 steps did take there toll this week and I would rather run 16 miles. I did comment that my old coach Sid Robson from Gateshead Harriers used to make us sprint up the steps of the Tyne & Wear Stand at The Gateshead International Stadium #happydays!!!!

I am trying to keep ticking over re the training. I managed 14 miles today. The weather was not good and the left knee was probably the worst it has been in the last 7 years. The pain registered around 7 out of 10!!! The run felt more like 20 miles today!!!

Most endurance athletes will be able to relate to the fact that we "self isolate" anyway. A lot of training done on our own where all we have is music and our thoughts. I got to Ashington today and seeing the statue of Wor Jackie, Jackie Milburn gave me a great deal of motivation when I felt particularly down.

On a happier note I will leave you with Cato in this hilarious clip. He is bringing "self isolation" to another level.

Take care all, stay safe and I will post soon.

Love, life  and peace.

Ian.
